Setup the discovery service
If your enterprise has an enterprise domain name, for example, acme.com, then the email ID for your device is [email protected].
-
The user enters [email protected] to sign in to their work or school account, then the device makes a HTTP GET request call to the URL:
https://acme.com/.well-known/[email protected]
For more information, see - https://developer.apple.com/documentation/devicemanagement/discover_authentication_servers -
On the acme.com domain, configure redirection rule for the URI - /.well-known/com.apple.remotemanagement to redirect it to the following URL:
https://<n-MDM cluster>/.well-known/com.apple.remotemanagement
Simplified service discovery for Account-driven Device Enrollment
Applicable to iOS 18.2+, macOS 15.2+, and visionOS 2.2+ devices.
For account-driven enrollment, when a user enters their organization email to sign into their work or school account, the device first searches for a well-known HTTP resource at the organization's domain, which contains a link to the MDM enrollment URL.
Procedure
-
Sign-in to the Work or School account.
-
Verify domains in Apple Business Manager and Apple School Manager - Applies only to domains that have been verified within Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager. If a domain is verified, the device can check with Apple Business Manager /Apple School Manager to get an alternate MDM enrollment URL.
-
Set a default Ivanti Neurons for MDM assignment for Mac, Apple Vision Pro, iPhone, and iPad platform types.
-
On the Ivanti Neurons for MDM console, navigate to Admin > Apple > Device Enrollment. In the Device Enrollment screen, ADDE URL and ADDE URL SET TIME columns are added.
First Preference: The device checks the well-known HTTP resource at the organization’s domain.
Fallback Option: If the first method fails, the device contacts Apple ABM/ASM to fetch the alternative destination specified by Ivanti Neurons for MDM.
-
Under Actions, select Configure ADDE URL.
-
Refresh the page.
